DoS: Madness
2011 Madness Champion: Tarl Cabot
by Kalamere
May 7, 2011

A bit late in the reporting, but congratulations to Tarl Cabot, the winner of the 2011 DoS Madness tournament!

In the final matchup, Tarl stepped into the ring against Soerl Lute. Soerl had a great run in the tournament to make it this far, but the fight was to be absolutely dominated by the older Warlord. Tarl, having held the rank for more than a decade longer than his opponent, showed us all the value of experience.

Beginning with an expert parry to thwart Soel's thrust in the first, through using the thrust himself in the 5th to beat out the opposing warlord's high cut, Tarl had a commanding 4-0 lead from the outset. Soerl was on the board with back to back scoring in the 7th and 8th, cutting overtop of Tarl's low parry and then reversing to strike low while Tarl attempted to step out of range. The match came to a close after 10 though, Tarl catching Soerl in a risky stop hit with a quick cut to his leg.

Tarl Cabot, 3rd longest standing warlord to have entered the tournament, took a well earned victory and top prize.

As always, hats off to the staff and all the other participants that made Madness happen this year. Our heartfelt thanks for continuing the Arena's favorite annual event.
